Dijon, Capital of Burgundy

Dijon, capital of Burgundy: a city with an ideal location - 1h35 from Paris by TGV - where historical heritage meets gastronomy, and vineyards meet elegant living...

Ideally located halfway between Northern and Southern Europe, Dijon is a crossroads with easy access to many French and European cities.

Dijon, capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, a city known for its mustard, gingerbread and crème de cassis blackcurrant liqueur; Dijon with its museums, its private mansions, its religious buildings… Dijon has been a listed City of Art and History since 2008 and is applying to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

With its 97-hectare conservation area, the wealth of Dijon’s historical heritage is plain to see: its paved streets and varnished tiled roofs are sights that stay with you.

Dijon is also the gateway to the most prestigious vineyards of Burgundy: the reputation of the Grands Crus Wine Route has earned it the title of the “Champs-Élysées of Burgundy”! The “Dijon-Côte de Nuits” destination earnead the “Vineyard & Discoveries” label in october 2010.

Projects abound, such as a contemporary art centre, the tramway’s big comeback, the Rhine Rhône LGV high-speed line... The City of Dukes is modernising but is not turning its back on its prestigious past.

Dijon is also distinguishing itself through its environmentally-friendly approach. The city is working to promote sustainable development, and implementing an active policy of integrating ecology into town planning.

We therefore invite you to come and discover the jewels of Dijon…

Bienvenue! Welcome!
